dc.description.abstract | “Así, víctima de su extravío, no sabía ni quería otra cosa que perseguir sin tregua al objeto de su pasión, soñar con él en su ausencia y, a la manera de los amantes…a una simple sombra”1. . Thomas Mann (6 .06.1875-12.08.1955), escritor alemán, con nacionalidad estadounidense, se dice que fue el último gran novelista del siglo XIX. Sus trabajos son críticos y reflexivos, hablan sobre la vida alemana y el espíritu europeo de la primera mitad del Siglo XX, basándose en las ideas radicales de la Biblia, Freud, Schopenhauer y Nietzsche. Perteneció a una familia comerciante y rica, nació en Lübeck, pero pronto se estableció en München, donde estudió en la Technischen Hochschule de esta ciudad para ser periodista. Su comienzo literario lo efectuó en Simplicissimus (Zeitschriftrevista semanal satírica) con “Der wille zum Glück” (cuento). Su primera novela fue “El pequeño señor Fidemann”, 1898, publicada en Neue Deutsche Rundschau. En 1900 comienza su servicio militar, que no duraría sino tres meses. Conoce a Katja Pringheim, con quien se casa en la primavera de 1905. | spa |
