| dc.description.abstractenglish | The work is the result of the author's doctoral thesis, which was presented at the University of Barcelona in 2011. The book is required reading for all those seeking to understand the history of sentencing in various periods, even nowadays. As the author points out: “This book recovers a significant number of pages and ideas from my Doctoral Thesis, defended in 2011 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona, from which, on the one hand, I have removed extensive specific developments, and on the other, I have updated and added new ones, to offer a work of a more general nature” (p. 25). In this way, the work is quite complex and makes readers reflect on custodial sentences, whether in the past, in the present and their future perspective. | eng |
