In this new technological era where information technologies are constantly evolving as well as their support for organizations, an alignment of these with the organization itself and its business strategy has been necessary. For this reason, understanding information technology (IT) and business together has become a critical strategy to generate a success factor for any organization (Zachman) and (Hirvonen, A.). With the growth of IT complexity in organizations, the alignment is increasingly shifting towards enterprise architectures (EA) to manage interrelationships and increasing demands for business agility. This research sought to reduce the possibility of failure in AE projects in entities of the Colombian public sector, based on the premise that if factors specific to the type of organization that generate negative impact are identified and taken into account, from the beginning of AE projects (in this case, an entity of the health sector), the possibilities of the impact generated by these factors throughout the life cycle of the project will be reduced and consequently the chances of success will increase. The method included: Literature review: identification of factors and artifacts. Definition of guidelines to manage said relevant factors and Analysis of the Preliminary Phase in a case study in a health entity. The main results were: The identification of relevant factors of the public entities that may impact on an EA project if not taken into account, the identification of artifacts from other frameworks that can help to manage said identified factors and the definition of guidelines to establish the principles of architecture, based on factors and artifacts identified in order to increase the chances of success of the project. It is concluded that in Colombia business architecture projects are beginning to gain strength due to state plans that promote the unification and updating of their entities in terms of technologies. Through the results of this research, it contributes to offering public entities, given their complexity by nature, a guide to social, administrative and technical factors that they must take into account, identifying their degree of response to these and how to manage them in order to not have great impacts on the life cycle of the EA project as they appear in the entity, hindering the work of the architecture team and the expected results of the project in the organizationeng
