Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the main pathologies treated in the rheumatology consultation and the measurement of its activity is a fundamental part of it. Although the prevalence and incidence are not well established in Colombia, in a study published in 2015 based on records of the provision of health services for the year 2005, a prevalence of 0.9 per 100 inhabitants has been documented, with 267,628 new cases of RA for the year 2005, ratifying the highest prevalence among women, with a female-male ratio of 4:11, likewise, in Colombia, RA is the second cause of loss of years of healthy life due to disability in women between 15 and 44 years of age, work incapacity ranges between 43 and 50% after 5 to 10 years of illness2 and in a population of 640 patients with RA, the majority are of productive age (30 - 65 years), 11.7% do not work, especially because they are retired due to the disease, although no differences were found in the level of activity between the patients who work and those who do not, the patients who do not work have worse scores in evaluating your coat functional city, finding greater functional limitation with greater disease activity3 has also been found in Compared with other chronic diseases, the quality of life of patients with RA is lower4. The measurement of disease activity is included in the standard of care that centers of excellence must carry out for the management of patients with RA, becoming a requirement for their accreditation since it demonstrates adherence to the treatment strategy by defined objectives, which is a fundamental part of the comprehensive management of patients with RA5.eng
