| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | Project title: Healthcare quality indicators of the Internal Medicine service: Santander Carlos Ardila Lulle Ophthalmology Foundation (FOSCAL). Researcher: Mayra Alejandra Heredia Ospina. Introduction: 1 The quality and efficiency indicators allow knowing the current state of the health service provided by an institution and / or service. Objective: To describe the specific healthcare quality indicators of the FOSCAL internal medicine service. Methods: Descriptive and retrospective study. The capture of discharges made by the internal medicine service is carried out, in six hospitalization rooms, during six months (November 2014 and April 2015). The main characteristics and indicators of quality and efficiency are calculated, by means, percentages, indices and rates, through the STATA statistical system. Results: 1,139 discharges are analyzed, with an average age of 65 years. The main discharge diagnosis is of cardiovascular origin followed by infectious pathology. The main associated pathology is arterial hypertension (55.49%). The incidence of sentinel indicators is 3.37%, with thromboembolic disease being the most frequent (0.79%) and the index of nosocomial infections 4.03%. The total mortality rate is 8.08% with a subsequent 48-hour attributable mortality of 7.37%, with infection being the main cause of death (51.09%). An association was found between mortality and the Charlson scale, chronic kidney disease (OR 3.7), dementia (OR 2.18) and neoplasia (OR 2.18). The readmission rate is 11.85%. 82.92% only presented one readmission and 50.37% readmitted for the same pathology. The occupational index is 76.95%,
rotational index of 2.3 patients / bed and average hospital stay of 12.27 days. Conclusions: Know the main indicators of quality and efficiency of the internal medicine service, is an opportunity to implement corrective measures, which allows the improvement in health care. | eng |
