The MMACDYS cohort (for its acronym in English, Metalloproteinases Matrix Acude Cardiac dysfunction and Sepsis) is a study carried out by Dr. Diego Torres and collaborators whose main objective was to define the strength of association between the activity index of MMPs (Metallopreteinases) and its inhibitors and cardiovascular dysfunction, determined by biochemical studies in patients with severe sepsis, for which a sample of patients with sepsis in its 3 different stages was obtained, from this database it is desired to perform a clinical characterization and sociodemographic of the population. Sepsis is a complex, multisystemic and variable clinical process, which is produced by pathogenic microorganisms that cause a deleterious systemic response in the host, 1 with a high mortality rate, difficulty in diagnosing it, and the need for timely management to avoid fatal outcomes. MMPs are zinc-dependent endopeptidases that participate in tissue repair and remodeling processes2; these, especially the MMP2 and MMP9. The participation of MMPs in the pathophysiology of sepsis has been reported by certain studies that demonstrate an increase in the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the lung after CLP, with a strong correlation between the increase in activity of MMPs and mortality of animals3. For all the above described, it is decided to carry out the present study, the objective is to know the population we are facing in order to have clarity in the strategies that would allow an intervention that reduces complications and slows mortality.eng
