| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | INTRODUCTION: The dermatological pathology of patients hospitalized in Intensive Care Units has not been sufficiently evaluated, therefore its characterization was carried out, establishing differences between the active and passive search of said patients. METHODOLOGY: Cohort study, analytical, prospective, that allows to establish if there is a difference between the active search (daily follow-up of patients) and passive (inter-consultations requested from the Dermatology Service) of the dermatoses of all patients admitted to the Care Units Intensive program of the Santander Ophthalmology Foundation - Carlos Ardila Lülle Clinic (FOSCAL), a third and fourth level institution in the city of Floridablanca, Santander, Colombia, for a period of 6 months, characterizing the dermatological pathology. RESULTS: 83.45% of the patients presented dermatological disorders upon admission to the ICU. During the stay, an incidence of dermatosis of 19.59% was documented, infectious pathology predominant in both groups, with a predominance of fungal diseases, similar to previous studies. Among the factors related to incidence, the type of ICU, the history of hypothyroidism, sedation, transfusion of blood products, use of antibiotics (Penicillins and Carbapenems), medical devices such as chest tube, nasogastric tube, central venous catheter were identified. , arterial line, tracheostomy, and lower scores on the Braden scale to assess the risk of pressure ulcers. CONCLUSIONS: Characterization of the dermatoses of patients in the ICU and justification of the importance of active search by specialists in Dermatology, which favors the identification of this type of pathology, to intervene in a timely manner and avoid the increased risk of complication in the patients of this service. | eng |
