| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | The performance of centrifugal pumps is often non-predictable under analytical equations due to the complex flow through the geometry so it is necessary to draw on different techniques like numerical analysis. This research presents a series of simulations of an industrial centrifugal pump (Pedrollo CP 620) where its Head vs Flow curve was obtained and compared to the expected performance given by the manufacturer, in addition to this, changes on the operation conditions and geometry parameters were made and evaluated. These simulations were carried out using COMSOL Multiphysics®, k-ε turbulence model was chosen to solve the Navier-Stokes equations with the frozen rotor methodology; pressure and velocity field were obtained and critical points analyzed. Finally, an experimental approach was developed where is demonstrated the viability of the use of numerical analysis tools to predict de performance of these devices under different conditions. | eng |
