| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | In this project, the energy-economic simulation and evaluation is carried out to determine the feasibility of the implementation of a heat recovery system, through an ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) in the San Andrés power generation plant (SOPESA) . The generating sets that are installed in the San Andrés power plant were characterized by equations that model their behavior. These equations were obtained as a result of several regressions of data given by various engine manufacturers (Catherpillar, Cummins and General Electric) with which the temperature of the exhaust gases, outlet flow and fuel consumption were determined. The ORC was characterized in each of its stages (evaporator, turbine, condenser and pump), in order to establish the working conditions of the system. With regard to the selection of the working fluid, several desirable characteristics were taken into account, such as: adequate critical temperature and pressure, small specific volume, high heat transfer coefficient, low viscosity, thermal stability, not being corrosive and not toxic, among others. Using Thermoflex, a software specialized in energy balances, different cases were simulated by varying the load of the motors and it was found that toluene is the fluid that obtained the best results in the energy and economic evaluation, being the most efficient fluid increasing approximately 11% the power generated by the system with the implementation of the ORC, and with a levelized cost of energy of 264,162 COP / kW and a return on investment of 1.30 years. | spa |
