dc.description.abstractenglish | Objective: Determine the reasons why the parents (only the father); in our environment, they want to know the fetal genital sex of their children during pregnancy.
Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out between September 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018. 393 permanent partners or husbands of women with low-risk pregnancies who attended routine obstetric ultrasounds in the Hospital Local del Norte and at the Santander Clinic Ardila Lulle Ophthalmology Foundation (FOSCAL), they were asked at the time of the examination to answer an anonymous and self-administered survey immediately before entering and another after taking the same.
The surveys explored the sociodemographic data of the participants, the expectations they had regarding the results of the examination, the level of importance that they made to know the fetal genital sex, the origin of these concerns
and how satisfied they were with their fetal genital sex as determined by the exam. Univariate and bivariate statistical analyzes were performed relating socio-demographic variables to parental preferences using STATA. | spa |
