| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | Kidney stones, or also known as renal lithiasis, are in the 10th position of the most sought after diseases and consulted by health professionals in Colombia (Pico, 2019). The problem addressed in this project is the reliability gap between an image captured by ultrasound and one captured by Computed Tomography (CT) for the detection of kidney stones. CT data capture is considered more effective in principle, but it is more costly and invasive for the patient; On the other hand, images captured by ultrasound can be obtained at a lower cost, but they depend largely on the skill and expertise of the professional who captures them. Taking the above into account, if a procedure is designed that reduces image noise and assists medical specialists in the detection process, it will be possible to reduce the costs related to the diagnosis and thus increase the precision of the same without the need for the use of additional equipment or additional training for professionals; For this reason, the possibility of having a system that allows the detection of kidney stones or lithiasis through ultrasound would imply an important advance in this field and support for radiologist specialists, since, with the standard procedure currently used (CT), generate a higher cost and must deal with the risks of invasion into the human body at the time of the study. | eng |
