| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | Although there were some painters who sporadically confronted the landscape throughout the 19th century, this type of painting, with no other objective than to serve as a creative and expressive medium, only had its beginnings in Colombia in 1893, when Andrés de Santa María y Luis de los Llanos began a chair on the subject at the National School of Fine Arts. From that moment on, landscape fever spread throughout the country with an unusual intensity, to the point of becoming the favorite theme of all Colombian painters for the next four decades. During this period, excellent works were produced, such as that of Domingo Moreno Otero, a pioneer of the artistic movement in Santander, and thanks to this type of painting supported by the surrounding area, and which would begin to emerge and take shape, a current or nationalist argument that has played a fundamental role in the artistic events of the country. | eng |
