| spa |

dc.description.abstractenglish | The "quiet music, the sound solitude" that Saint John of the Cross speaks of in his Spiritual Canticle is the breath of the Holy Spirit becoming interior music that when exteriorized gives rise to melodies and inspired lyrics that lead us to prayer and praise to God. The Roman pontiffs in recent times, led by Saint Pius X, have given these inspired songs a ministerial role in divine service. Sacred music must be intimately linked to the liturgical action, expressing prayer more delicately and fostering unanimity, having as sole purpose the glory of God and the sanctification of the faithful. As Saint Paul tells us, we will know that this music comes from the Spirit if it enables us to proclaim that Jesus is Lord. Liturgical action takes on a nobler form when the divine offices are solemnly celebrated with song, together with the active participation of the sacred ministers and the people. Popular religious singing should be strongly promoted so that the voices of the faithful resonate in religious celebrations, since the musical tradition of the peoples is very important in their religious and social life. | eng |
