[Pinilla AP, Sán-chez EW, Campo A. Evaluación clínica de la orientación sexual en adolescentes. dc.description.abstractenglishIn the last 20 years, pediatricians have shown greater interest in the holistic health of adolescents with homosexual sexual orientation. They have addressed both the physical health aspects and the promotion of adequate mental health. Like heterosexual adolescents, homosexual, lesbian and bisexual adolescents usually present risky behaviors for physical integrity as well as a higher frequency of emotional symptoms associated with discrimination based on sexual orientation. General practitioners and pediatricians should have a basic understanding of the process of accepting the sexual identity of gay, lesbian, and bisexual adolescents and the associated medical risks. In this way, they must globally address the health problems of this most visible population. [Pinilla AP, Sán-chez EW, Campo A. Clinical evaluation of sexual orientation in adolescents.
