dc.description.abstract | La ecografía doppler color es un método para evaluar de manera precisa el sistema venoso portal hepático, obteniendo información que permite diagnosticar la hipertensión venosa portal reconociendo cambios sutiles como alteraciones en la velocidad del flujo de la arteria hepática, los cambios de la onda espectral y en su índice de pulsatilidad o las alteraciones en el diámetro de la vena porta, en la morfología de la onda espectral, inversión en la dirección de su flujo y la presencia de comunicaciones portosistémicas en los casos más avanzados, así como la evaluación de la comunicación porto-sistémica transyugular intrahepática (TIPS), usada en el manejo de pacientes con hemorragia por várices esofágicas. De igual manera, es útil en la investigación diagnóstica del síndrome de Budd-Chiari y en la evaluación y seguimiento de pacientes con filtros de vena cava inferior. Esta revisión ofrece un repaso anatómico general del sistema venoso portal hepático y de las principales características ecográficas de la hipertensión venosa portal, del síndrome de Budd-Chiari y de sus causas. dc.description.abstractenglish | Color doppler ultrasonography is an imaging method that allows the assessment of the venous portal hepatic system to obtain informa-tion for the diagnosis of portal venous hypertension, identifying the subtle changes of the hepatic arterial flow, spectral wave and pul-satility index, portal vein diameter, morphology of the spectral wave, direction of flow inverted and portosystemic shunts in advanced pathology as well as in the evaluation of transyugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS), used in the treatment of patients with esophageal bleeding varix. It is useful in diagnosis of the Budd-Chiari syndrome and the evaluation and follow up of patients with inferior vein cava filters. This article offers a review of the hepatic portal venous system and the main ultrasonographic features of portal venous hypertension, and Budd-Chiari syndrome and their causes.
